Wir untersuchen die Eigenschaften von Oberflächen, Grenzflächen und nanostrukturierten Materialien auf der atomaren Skala vom Ultrahochvakuum bis zu technologisch relevanten Bedingungen, wie Gasdrücke im Bar Bereich und erhöhte Temperaturen oder elektromagnetische Felder. Dazu verwenden wir in-situ Röntgenbeugungs- und Spektroskopiemethoden, welche die ausgezeichneten Eigenschaften moderner Röntgenquellen ausnutzen. Unsere Messkampagnen an Großforschungseinrichtungen werden durch in-house Experimente unter Verwendung von modernen Rastersondenmethoden, Spektroskopie und Nanofabrikationsinstrumenten komplementiert.
